Tiorl 7
The besieged Celestine Peaks have seen a virtual invasion of Xenos forces in these first days of conflict, the only solace to the local residents being that the aliens seem as interested in killing each other as attacking the fortress-cities.
The first days of fighting saw the arrival of the Eldar upon the Celestine Peaks, but the Dying had great difficulty in establishing a foot-hold. After clashing with both the Imperium and the Tyranids, the Eldar withdrew to a safer position to establish their own landing zone. Elements of their fleet have managed a good supporting position, however, and the days ahead do not bode well for the island’s inhabitants if these Xenos mean them harm.
A series of mycetic spores have also landed upon the island, the resulting Tyranid swarms causing havoc in their typical manner. An early battle with the Eldar went well for them, but the sudden attack of a Necron force has seriously hurt the growing swarm. In the following days, the Astartes have drawn lines against these Xenos, and neither side has managed significant gains against the other.
What brought the ancient Necrons and the enigmatic Eldar to these mountains remains unclear, but the number of Xenos arriving on the island has caused considerable distress amongst the local populace. Of further concern to military strategists is the scene at the Dominica supply base. After the Tyranid beasts moved on, investigation showed that the slain Eldar had been stripped of the jewels which their people prized so highly. Why the Hive Mind is collecting something which can provoke the normally-unpredictable Eldar into wanton violence remains to be seen, but the very idea has even some Inquisitors on edge.
Elsewhere, both the Inquisition and the Eldar have found the Squiggy Wilds live up to their fierce reputation. A Sororitas shrine long thought lost was found by the newest arrivals of the Inquisition, only to see it sacked by the local Orks, its valuable artifacts stolen while the Inquisitorial forces were driven off by a countless horde of the fungal beasts.
Strange reports have begun filing in of mishapen Orks glimpsed in the woods of the mainland, and intercepted Ork messages mention “da Feruls” speaking of “ded ‘ard oomies near da waters o’ da deep jungle.” No doubt this is a sign that the new warbosses are getting word of the isolated fortifications in the Drowning Hills from the local Orks.
The Plucked Eye (Hulk) -
The Glasswind Heights have seen much bloodshed already, and have quickly become known for drawing the wrath of all manner of Eldar who seem intent on driving away the other races. While the piratical Eldar have slipped inside the mountain’s caverns with little hesitation, those from the craftworlds have lingered upon the surface, apparently absorbed in their rituals of foresight. What they are seeing, mankind may never know – yet it seems that they are not pleased by it.
The Necrons have been spotted as well, but suffered greatly at the hands of the Orks, who have found all manner of interesting "gubbinz" amongst the abandoned ships at the base of the mountains. Distracted, the Orks paid little attention as the Necron forces withdrew towards a stretch of living metal to regroup. Why these Necrons did not simply “phase out” as has been a common sight across the galaxy is a question without an answer – no doubt it has something to do with the Necron vessel imbedded in the hulk near the equator.
A Space Marine attack on a Chaos encampment between the Chaos woods and the nearby temple of the Dark Gods was quite successful, though it remains to be seen what the Ruinous Powers will send as retaliation. The Marines have set up a small camp in the area to monitor developments, but even the Astartes find the nearby forest disturbing and the local wildlife obviously could not exist without their Warp-saturated home negating a few laws of physics.
