Heres the beginning Imperial Guard fluff...
------------------------------------------------------------------ The Guard who come in with the Inquisition were mostly pulled from nearby systems (because the Inquisition tends to draft en route instead of actually maintaining their own forces). Accustomed to frontier life, these men have less fear of the Inquisition - and less trust. While fighting Orks and Tau is nothing new to them, they are distrustful of the large hulk orbiting the planet, and the motives of the people trying to get them to board it.
They are more inclined to destroy the "evil" forces aboard the hulk than to see it fall into the hands of their everyday enemies, but they also have the strong kin-like ties to the people of a nearby planet that are often found on the fringe of the Imperium. They'd like to help their neighbors and protect their back yard, so to speak.
The Guard on the planet are the survivors of centuries of Ork occupation. Some are mere bands of slaves who see this war as a chance to escape their Ork masters, while others are the descendents of those lucky enough to have established a stronghold that has thus far survived Ork siege attempts or gone unnoticed.
A few of the smaller strongholds weren't so lucky, but refused to be killed or enslaved. They turned to the Chaos Gods for support, and now these isolated bases are large shrines to Chaos where daemons walk amongs men, the possessed are seen as blessed warriors, and the only thing that keeps the daemons from simply eating their "allies" is the constant supply of Orks to fight, kill, and devour.
Colonel Jhones scratched his chin and peered at the logis sitting across from him. "So let me see if I understand you correctly. The Inquisition wants me to take my men, haul them over to the Tiorl system, divide them up, send half onto Tiorl 7 to fight Orks and who knows what else the Inquisition might decide they need our blood for, and send the other half onto some "thing" that's exited warp-space near the planet in search of Emperor know what, and all just on their say so?" "Are you denying a direct order from the Inquisition colonel? You are aware that the Inquisition speaks with the voice of..." "Of the Emperor himself, yes I know, I know. I didn't say no, I just wanted to be sure we understood one another. Now you listen. We've spent uncounted generations fighting Orks and more recently Tau, so we're not afraid of anything we might run into, and I'm well aware of the mandate of an inquisitorial order, but understand this, I will not lead my men into a situation blind. What, exactly is being asked of us?" "I told you, you are to support our move to restore Imperial order on Tiorl and our efforts to investigate the anomally." "No, let me rephrase that; the last time an Inquisitor showed up here, he came and did the requisitioning himself, and there was no splitting of forces. After all, he couldn't be in two places at once could he? So now, we'll go along with this little order, but only once we know what's really going on..." It was now the logis' turn to scratch his chin in thought. "Very well, you are aware that there are different groups within the Inquisition?" "Yeah, go on..." "Can you keep a secret Colonel?"
Colonel Jhones strode toward his quarters trailed by Lietenant Kobb. "We're not really going along with this crazy groxshi..." "We don't have a choice Lietenant. They have the authority, and you and I both know their just crazy enough to declare martial law on our whole planet just to get us to agree, and we don't want that now do we?" "I guess not." "Good, I'm sending you planetside; orders are to reinforce our cousins there." Won't the inquisitors call us in for other duties?" "It seems likely, but you can't very well respond if you've got an army of Orks on your doorstep now can you?" Lietenent Kobb smiled. "No sir, I wouldn't reckon I could." "I'll be taking the rest of the men over to the anomally so I can make sure they don't throw our lives away. Oh, and Lietenant?" Johnes stopped at the door to his quarters. "Yes sir?" "Be sure to send me regular reports on their movements and requests, there's alot more going on here than they'd like to let out, and I'd like to keep an eye on the big picture." Lietenant Kobb smiled again. "Yes sir Colonel."
--------------------------------------------------------------------
There is one last objective for the Imperial Guard. A transport ship crashed some centuries ago on Tiorl. It is not known what it carries inside but it was a fresh shipment from a forgeworld. It is crashed near or in the Celestine peaks.

Nice it's been a long time since I did some fluff but I'll give it a go.
---------------------------------------------------
The Tiorl system was under attack and many distress calls were made, at that time the Iron Knights 5th Regiment were in the vicinity of the planet. General Blye Hantley leader of the 5th regiment answered to the planets call.
---------------------------------------------------
The Iron Knights were an unusual Regiment for they do not use lasgun or any kind of lasers, they still are using bullets and shells. They equip themselves with autoguns and missiles launchers, some fortunate folk have seen their equivalent for the lascannon which is to be said like huge leman russ cannon wheeled around by the guard. They have to be seen by loan commissars rampaging around the battlefield inspiring everyone around them to fight.
---------------------------------------------------
"General we are nearing the Tiorl system and another imperial ship is nearby" the general turned round to see the man "Good get the commander of this operation on the vox I which to speak to him" the man man bowed "Yes sir" a few moments later the general entered the bridge of his ship "Sir we have the commander on the vox for you" "Thank you, this is General Blye Hantley commanding officer of the Iron Knight 5t Regiment, we received a distress call from this system how can I be of service?"...
