The narrative portion of all Chaos battle reports should be posted here until next week's thread is set up.
While you can choose to play the campaign with a more strategic focus than narrative, your report still requires a story (which does matter, so write something). Remember also that narrative is for advancing the story, not giving a dry, blow-by-blow account of your game.

My lord Warsmith, it’s an honor to have you planet side with our forces again. We’ve received your orders and I am pleased to report that we’ve been able to carry them out efficiently. We were lucky enough to locate a band of Slaanesh worshipers, the depraved lot seemed to have been preying on the refugees. Our attacks must have cut their supply of fresh people and caused them to be more aggressive in their methods.
They launched an attack on our position earlier in the morning; most were cut down by bolter fire during the first few fire fights. Once they reached the refugee structures we were forced into urban fire fights, three of our men were wounded from bolter fire, they will recover however. I’m also pleased to report that we managed to capture several cultists and a few of the demented Astartes. They’ll be sent back to the northern mines so that you may question them at your leisure my lord.

My lord Warsmith, we’ve done as requested and assaulted this village…it appeared to be a fishing village of sorts. Perhaps light cargo shipments as well; there are several larger ships in the harbor which look like they might have what it’d take to cross the sea. Resistance was light and scattered; we snuck up under cover of darkness and hit them in the morning mists. All resistance was from human forces, no Tau were present and there was little to no signs of Tau structures or equipment. To emphasis this point I’ll make mention of the fact that we were fired upon by a cannon using black powder and iron balls.
That’s not to say that there were no adversaries worth fighting, what few garrison troops were stationed here fought back using lasguns and wore flak and/or carapace armor. I’m not sure on the population of the settlement however I can report that we captured a significant amount of those encountered. We’ll remain here until we’ve swept the area further and gathered what potential resources we can. Feel free to send a garrison force as this maybe an excellent early warning station for the mines.
Iron Within, Iron Without.

A flicker of laser light pierces the darkness of night. It’s target hisses and rears up, its metal skin burning from the wound, the pain fueling its advance.
The guardsmen’s bunker is a wash with screams and frantic fire as the nightmare closes in. The Commissar has already retired the heavy weapons team’s commanding officer but the officer’s death goes unnoticed by the men. The bunker’s spot lights flash across the reddish metal flesh. The gore slicked pincers shine in the pale light as the beast rears them both back and opens its claws wide. Time seems to halt for a moment, the guardsmen scrambling as they do stare out the bunker windows and many tiny red eyes that make up the insectoid war machine’s head stare back.
Its claws fly forward gouging into the wall, breaching its reinforced skin. The building groans, its own death cry echoes from bending girders and collapsing stone.
Rutabo stands on a ridge far outside the killing zone. He watches the distant bark of his Bane Blade consume a bunker in fire. After the shell is fired infernal snarling and demonic laughter rumbles from its armored hull, the possessing creatures please with the power of their metal body.
His visor zooms in on the far western edge of the battle field. One of his Commanders, the warlord Tarkis and his frenzied Berserkers invading one of the bunkers there. The beast Tarkis holds high the severed head of some officer with his one skeletal cyborged hand letting the blood bath his face and savoring every drop.
He adjusts his vision to Baldwin’s position. The Sub Commander and his Terminators weather the tides of fire from the eastern bunkers while Badista and his Word Bearers slowly march across the field singing their hymns to the gods and encircling the final bunker system
“This is a perfect victory” he congratulates himself and his army quietly.
(This was a massive Apoc game where the story we decided to play was Chaos coming after a fortified imperial bastion. To take it i had to claim their bunkers. So all objectives were placed in their deployment and all were manned by them. It was a little over 15,000 points per side. I managed to take all three bunkers and win in one of the most awesome games i've ever played in)
