The large cargo hold within the Murder Class Cruiser was filled with rows of traitor marines standing at attention. Their armor a dark oily steel color, these were the Iron Warriors of the Black Hand Company. Their banners hung from the walls proudly displaying a red background with the skull like metal helmet with a black palm print on the forehead. “Black Hands!” A voice bellowed from a balcony high above the rows of traitors. All eyes turned to him. “Welcome to Tiorl system, we shall be dropping into real space shortly.” The Warsmith looked down at his warriors, he wore the same armor only he had a servo-arm attached to his back, the large claw arched over his back much like a scorpion’s tail. His green eyes surveyed the rows, a small twitch on his lips turned into a grin. His thin beard was black and his head lacked any hair to speak of other than his eyebrows. “You shall be boarding the landing craft shortly as well, those of you dropping on the planet itself will be lead by Captain Slavik.” He gestured to the Iron Warrior on his right. “Those who are not assigned to him will be with Captain Seth and myself,” He gestured to the warrior on his left. “For the time being at least.” He turned to face his Captains. “When you set down at your designated drop locations fortify the area quickly. I’m sure it won’t be long until we’re noticed and the lapdogs of the False Emperor arrive.” “Of course sir,” Slavik bowed his head. “We’ll crush any resistance we come across.” “Good, good…” The Warsmith showed the shadow of a grin and turned back to the crowd. “Your personal assignments have been issued to you by your sergeants,” He shouted over the room. “Gather your equipment and prepare for battle! Iron Within!” “Iron Without!” The room shouted back enthusiastically.

(first battle)
The drop ship rattled as it set down on the ground with a large thud. “Sir we’ve touched down, prepare to disembark.”
“Very good,” Captain Seth replied into his comm. “Prepare to disembark!” He shouted to the rest of his warriors.
The ramp dropped slowly and the Captain and his squad hustled down the ramp, he looked around for the other two drop ships, he saw that they had both set down next to his and were also unloading their cargo of warriors and other various equipment.
“I trust all is going well?” The Warsmith’s voice rang out in his helmet.
“Yes sir, we’ve just landed near the forest and are preparing to investigate the smaller temples and ruins.”
“Good just be sure that the temples remain secure.”
“Yes sir, it shall be done.” The comm. clicked off and the Captain led his group of three squads into a plot of ruined buildings.
“Sir, contact!” One of his warriors barked into the comm. “Rocket incoming!”
The group disbursed into the ruins as a rocket exploded nearby, one of the squads took cover within the ruins of a small building and leveled their heavy bolter on one of the broken walls. The other warriors in the squad followed suit and leveled their bolters at the approaching squad of marines as the other squad with an Autocannon did the same.
“Lapdogs of the False Emperor,” The Captain said into his comm. as he caught sight of them. “Kill them!”
The marines were quickly cut down by the hail of fire from the Iron Warriors bolters and heavy weapons. The conflict only lasted about twenty minutes before Captain Seth saw the leader of the Space Marines and charged forward with his squad. When they entered the ruins the enemy commander was hiding in they saw that he was accompanied by a squad of marines.
“You men,” Seth pointed. “Kill those fools!”
His men obeyed and charged into the small group of scouts, chain-swords swinging while the Captain charged the commander. His twin lightening claws crackled to life as he swung at the commander, cutting easily threw his armor and mortally wounding him. He locked onto the commander’s head with his servo arm and twisted violently, killing him.
“Looks like it a listening post, sir” One of the Iron Warriors approached him. “We have a few wounded but managed to kill them all and establish a perimeter.” “Good work Sergeant, send word to the Warsmith that he may send down further forces and more of the equipment.”
“Yes sir.” The Sergeant gave a salute and began his walk back to his squad leaving the Captain staring out into the distance at the barren landscape.

(second battle)
Captain Seth stood onboard his transport that he’d turned into a temporary command center. He watched the screen in front of him blip to life and the face of his Warsmith appeared.
“Report Captain.”
“Sir, we’ve establish a beach head and have been receiving a steady supply of reinforcements and equipment.” The captain replied as a rhino transport rolled away from a transport behind him.
“Good, any further signs of the Emperor’s Lackeys?”
“None sir, the resistance we encountered before seems to have just been a scouting party. We weren’t able to get much intel from what we recovered from the bodies.”
“Very well,” An orbital picture flashed on half the screen, then white outlines of major features appeared as it zoomed in on a location near their beach head. “I want you to take some of your forces to this temple complex on the outskirts of these woods,” The picture turned to show what seemed to be a fairly large complex consisting of a large temple in the middle surrounded by smaller buildings. “I’m fairly sure that these structures were built by our hosts but it seems they never finished the project. Take the complex by force if necessary and fortify it, this shall be our base of operations for the planet. I’ll be arriving shortly after all is done with further equipment and reinforcements.”
“Yes sir, any idea what kind of resistance we’ll be facing?”
“More than likely a few scouting parties or small war bands, nothing significant.”
“As you command sir, we shall take it! Iron Within!” The Captain saluted.
“Iron Without!” The Warsmith return the salute as the screen went black.
The attack went as well as could be expected, the complex they had been assigned to take had more resistance in it than originally anticipated. A small Astartes force had taken up residence, all but a single squad of marines escaped them. In the end however they had done as was requested and captured the complex in its entirety.
“Sergeant!” The captain barked.
“Sir!” The sergeant walked up behind him.
“How many wounded and killed?”
“A few frag wounds sir, no dead though sir.”
“Good work sergeant, send a few runners back to our staging area to inform them that we’ve gained control of the area and are ready to receive reinforcements.”
“Yes sir!”

****This transmission is to be relayed to the Hulk immediately for viewing by our Warsmith in a timely matter. ****
The landing on Tiorl 7 has gone as planned; in fact I believe it has gone better than we could have hoped for. Upon arrival in the marsh area we came across several islands inhabited by what at first appeared to be Imperial citizens. After a closer inspection we found that these people had accepted the truth and embraced the blessing of Chaos.
We were welcomed as near demi-gods; it was most flattering however fitting in a sense. We soon acquired local information and were permitted access to what few repair shops, armory and supply depots they had. A local leader informed us that there was a small Imperial fort near the island; it was located on a small island nearby.
Wasting no time I took a small detachment of my forces and followed a band of local warriors. As a side note while we were off in battle the forces left behind at the landing site and island established an operations center and began creating a landing field for further operations.
When we reached the enemy fortress night had already fallen, under cover of darkness we managed to scout the island and found that there were several buildings outside the mighty walls of the fortress. We used this to our advantage by fortifying one of the larger buildings outside the walls. When daylight came we were able to call in our drop ship to blow the front gate apart for easy access. It was disappointing to see that our only enemies were armed with lasguns and a few light vehicles.
It should be also noted that the local warriors who guided us to this fortress island were all too eager to spill the blood of these protectors of the keep. Upon sighting the commander they charged directly towards him into a hail of fire, many of them were cut down but all who stood before them met a gory end.
In the end we took the keep without damaging the structure any further, we’ve begun collecting what data we could from the files and maps in the commander’s office and command area; it’s obvious that this fort was constructed by the Imperial Guard, what purpose it served is unknown at this time. However we now have a island fort to use as another base of operations, we’ve begun clearing a second landing field for further reinforcements and supplies.
What was left of the warriors returned to their city-island with a squad of our warriors to report our victory and inform them that we are well on the way to securing this land for our own.

To: Primary Operations Base, Warsmith Kane From: Captain Seth, Forward Observation Bunker
My lord Warsmith, the link up with our hosts went as successful as could be expected in such an environment. After we received the reinforcements at the temple that you were gracious enough to spare us I took the liberty of striking out those pet psychopaths that “carry the word” of their corpse Emperor.
My strike team set out from the temple and head along the twisted forest which we dare not enter until we have further intelligence and reinforcements. We were fortunate enough to come across a small bunker with further small building being constructed around it. The bulk of the foot soldiers were easily overcome by our superior weapons and warriors.
I personally lead the charge in the assault on the bunker; many warriors fell to sniper fire from said structure. When we reached it we cut down many soldiers with chainsword and power sword alike. Might I also add with a hint of pride that I myself cut down ten of these soldiers. Hopefully this new forward position will allow us to monitor our foes here better and provide us with better defense of the temple. We sent back all data collected and hope that it will be there to greet you at the temple, may your meeting with our hosts also go well my lord.

To: Primary Operations Base, Tiorl 7 From: Captain Slavic
My lord Warsmith, I am pleased to report that our night landing on the island containing the Imperial Fortress has been successful thus far. We’ve managed to get off the coast and against the mountain where we’re beginning construction of a small forward command post. Resources are limited however we were able to land quite a number of traitors and cultists after the initial landing of our troops.
I have received your orders in a timely manner and can say with satisfaction that Operation: “Serpent’s Nest” is a go and proceeding as planned. The cultists and local traitors are being given instruction and supplies for their stay in our new fortifications that we are building here and back at our initial landing site on the planet. It troubles me to leave such structures in the hands of the locals but your orders are being fulfilled without question.
I hope to bring further good news on our operations here very soon. Iron Within, Iron Without.

To: Primary Operations Base, Tiorl 7 From: Captain Slavic
My lord Warsmith, our operations here could not be going smoother. It would appear that the local Imperial forces are busy with other threats as the resistance has been rather lax as we make our way into the mountains.
As ordered we have established a camp within these mountains and are attempting to reinforce it with whatever we can. Our supplies have had some difficulty getting threw however but I am confident that this base will prove its worth after the traitor guard and cultists take up residence. We have made doubly sure that their food and water supplies have been accounted for and that they will last for some time to come.
We are preparing to set up the last strongpoint and then we shall return to the mainland as you requested, my lord.
