War goes well for the Tau on Centarius, and it seems that this world if firmly in Xenos hands. It would take a concerted effort by Imperial forces on a scale not yet displayed to truly shift these usurpers from Imperial territory. Perhaps, though, this is as it should be. It can take years of prolonged conflict to reclaim a world, and this one will soon be running rampant with feral Orks spored by the current invasion. Imperial efforts might be better spent on more-pressing goals.
The evacuation of the refugees from Tiorl 7 is a high priority, and a new problem has come to Centarius’ Imperial efforts – the overdue Black Ship has dropped out of Warp in a war-zone, quickly attacked by Xenos and Chaos vessels. What trickery brought this vessel out of the Warp in an open conflict is uncertain, but some speculate that the Tyranids’ “shadow in the Warp” masked much of the potential threat from the awareness of the vessel’s crew.
Just when things were beginning to calm in the islands of the west, a joint strike by foul immortals has bitten deep into Tau efforts.
Tau forces had begun to relax in Aetna, some settling into routine whilst others were taken away to fight in the forefront of battle for Centarius. With only marginal opposition to this point, few could have foreseen an alliance between Necron and Chaos forces to attack the gathered masses. These unholy allies attacked at the heart of the evacuation effort, bypassing many outposts to make a decisive first strike. The main communications center was taken, and only the quick reflexes of the Tau Air Caste saved the day from total disaster when false information was sent to their guidance systems.
While the Tau still have control of the islands, their grip is tenuous now at best. If the forces there are not reinforced, they will likely fall – very soon…
The island of Genesis has been disturbingly calm in recent days. Chaos and Necron forces have taken to fortifying their positions and a cease-fire of sorts seems to have been reached between them. While Tau patrols still venture into this waterlogged land, they have made no progress into it, lacking the manpower to do much more than observe and report.
The continent of Ionia remains firmly in Tau hands as those few Imperial forces are forced to withdraw towards their supply lines.
A small incursion of Orks failed to establish a foothold, due largely to the efforts of the planet’s small armored company. Whilst this is a victory for the Tau, it does not bode well. If an Ork Waaagh took hold in a territory held mostly by guerilla warriors, they could prove very difficult to dislodge.
In a surprising turn of events, the Ork forces who landed at the dawn of fighting have mobilized across the continent to attack the planet’s sole spaceport. As waves of Greenskins crashed against Burgundia’s defenses, the other races fighting in the streets have been swept back - every Ork killed replaced by a seemingly-endless supply of born warriors.
Now the Orks are the dominant force on Mycenea, and in Burgundia in particular. With an important Imperial craft just entering the system and engulfed by the conflict, this threat to the spaceport can’t be taken lightly…
Rumor has it that Eldar forces have entered the system and come to attack their ancient foe, the forces of Chaos. If this is true, the strike team sent was utterly decimated, for no Eldar forces can be found upon the planet. Still, Chaos forces were noted to have engaged an unidentified foe in the Polar North, and even this small reprieve is considered a blessing by many of their foes.
The news would have been much better if these attackers had managed to slow the Chaos mining efforts, but this is apparently not the case.
The warm valleys of the Polar South might have fascinated Explorator teeams or the Tau Earth Caste, but there’s no place for scientists on Centarius now. As no threat seems to be emanating from this unusual geography, no forces have been sent to deal with it – by anybody.
