As war comes to Centarius, many forces have taken positions, and first blood has been drawn.
While it is too soon to tell who will triumph, conditions are unexpectedly harsh. Despite the low technological level of the local populace, many have been pressed into service and thrown by the score at any invaders they can reach. This disregard for human life was initially a shock, but the Tau have been unpredictable in recent years and the novelty of this method of attack is quickly dissipating. Soon enough, only the relatively-new, properly-equipped human militias will be a real threat to other factions, the primitives long-since rendered practically harmless by appropriate countermeasures.
Amidst the island cluster of Aetna, the Tau have begun an efficient evacuation of the human populace. Astartes and Chaos forces are reported to have attacked here, but it seems that they were too slow to prevent the Tau from taking advantage of their local influence.
All is quiet on this new landmass – or so many would think.
Tau patrols have moved through the area uneventfully, but rumor has it that a few small scouting parties from other factions have disappeared in the area. Few have seen the signs of what may lurk in this waterlogged necropolis, and there are those who wish to keep it this way.
The rainforests of Ionia have proven an ideal terrain for guerrilla tactics, and Tua forces here have been more than a nuisance to those few Astartes who had the misfortune of landing there.
Thus far, Imperial tacticians have not discovered a pattern to these attacks, nor a common purpose. While some suspect that this is merely a diversion, there’s always the possibility that the Tau are hiding something here.
In the first days of conflict on Centarius, Mycenea has seen some of the fiercest fighting.
Orks destroyed the few hastily-built Imperial surface-to-space weapons emplacements in the area and landed a sizable force, Chaos agents were discovered by Imperial forces, and even Necron forces have arrived near the source of a mysterious distress signal.
As the Ork and Imperial conflict escalates, few can say what will happen behind the scenes with the Inquisition and Necrons each playing out shadow-games of their own.
The mines of the north run with blood and clamor with the sounds of large-scale mining.
Chaos forces have fallen on these outer colonies with the ruthless efficiency for which the Iron Warriors are known, and are likely fortifying their claims even as this report is written. Whatever the purpose these engineers of death have resumed the operation of the mines and secured nearby fortresses is, no good can come of it.
The Polar South remains uncontested, its mysteries left for times with less pressing matters. Whatever causes its odd geography, it would seem, is a question for another day…
