Centarius was once a Feudal World rediscovered near the end of the Great Crusade.
As an potential outpost to continue into what would later be named the Eastern Fringe, Centarius was soon the site for a spaceport, and the local religions were absorbed into the Cult Imperialis.
Unfortunately, the events of the Horus Heresy led to Centarius being abandoned by the Imperium as its forces returned towards Terra to take sides in the civil war that engulfed the realm. Centarius would remain loosely under Imperial control for millennia afterwards, but the Imperial presence was never fully solidified. For the most part, the system existed in isolation from its rulers, occasionally visited by a ship headed to or from the Eastern Fringe and culled by the Black Ships of the Inquisition every hundred years. Tithes were paid when required, and the Centariusan people went unnoticed for decades at a time.
Sometime roughly 60 years ago, however, the Tau came to Centarius.
Finding a world of humans reduced to savages with an already-established spaceport, the Tau did what they do best - they made friends with the locals.
Where the Imperium had neglected and ignored Centarius, the Tau brought the basics of civilization to this world, They offered the Centariusans a better life as part of a compact empire, and were accepted by the natives as liberators from the tyranny of Imperial rule. Small bases were established around the spaceport, and two generations of Centariusans have been born as loyal citizens of the Tau Empire.
After the failed attacks on the Tiorl system by Imperial forces, a small band of weary Imperial troops turned to Centarius for the port of call for which it has been known for millennia - only to find it absorbed into the Tau Empire. Their resources depleted, the Imperial vessels made a forced landing and hope to acquire the supplies they need to leave. A distress call has been sent, but there is no assurance of what help will arrive.
Worse still, the last Black Ship to visit Centarius was just over 100 years ago. Soon, a vessel with holds full of untrained psykers will be entering the system...
