Eldar-Ork alliance? That sounds like an interesting story. I'd love to hear it sometime. And consider me very interested in helping out next time. Eldar would be my preference, but I have an army for almost every race except Tau and Necrons now, and might have one or the other of those by the time we are ready to go again. ~Dan BTW-- Incubi -- I just picked up a DE army on the cheap, so you have swayed me to the Dark Side.

The Eldar-Ork alliance was an example of how things don't work. The Eldar rep decided without consulting his faction that the Eldar would ally with the Orks, and the Orks agreed to take Eldar bombs and use (most of) them against the Hulk. This all happened through PM (without mentioning it to the rest of the staff), didn't appear on the forums, and didn't make it into a BatRep or Side-Story. I only now know of these events because of the discussion which resulted from this incident during Week 8. Two weeks later, when the Ork and Eldar reps announced at the end of the campaign that they'd been allies for a while now, they were told no. If there had been narrative to back it in the intervening weeks, the plot might have made it, but a desire to not have anybody know about it meant that those running the campaign didn't know and therefore didn't include it. See, it works like role-playing - if you don't say you're doing something (no mention anywhere), you're probably not doing it. However, EasyE did eventually write it into "With the Kaptin," so you might guess that Huthero went completely nuts and gave away some Eldar tech before his suicidal finale - or the Orks were duped by an illusion of some sort. It is very out-of-character for Eldar to hand out their technology to the lesser races... consider me very interested in helping out next time. I thought you were running one between now and then... Yeah, you're on the list for next time. There's another way to join the ranks of the Dark Eldar? It's because of that naughty Wych, isn't it? We'll have to get you indoctrinated - can't have the True Kin off losing battles.

I'm just glad I didn't try to give my extra Plasma Detonators away to the Marine players trying to break into the crystal ship. That would have caused all sorts of problems! I decided against it, figuring that I could use them in my story, and that Rotgut wouldn't know about the Marine's problems.
I would offer to help, but I fear I would just be one more of those people problems.
Can you elaborate what you meant about carefully writing a bat rep so that other factions that you were fighting would help you strike at the faction you really wanted to influence in the campaign. Perhaps I am dense, but I didn't get it? Are you refering to a situation similar to my battle report involving the Eldar and Space Marines, where I fled leaving a targeting homer in my wake?

Losing still gave your faction points. This means that the faction you played against increased their score in an area through your report (though it tended to be significantly less points for the opponent). After all, your enemy has to be where you are in order to fight you. As such, if you wanted to get rid of the Necrons and there was an Eldar story going after the Necrons, you could have fought the Eldar in a battle where your goal (narratively) was to trick the pansees into coming too close to the tin 'eads. Then, all the Eldar reports in the area would be towards beating the Necrons and there'd be a higher Eldar score - hence the Necrons hurt more. Even if the Ork score was completely discounted because all you did was use yourself as bait, you'd still have just added more points against the Necrons. You see, it's as much about what you say you're doing as it is about the statistics you submit.
